Jennings Organs, Entertainment Models, 1958 (and 1959)
This page is currently building. For the time being, two adverts placed in "Melody Maker" magazine. "Model D2" is said to have been used on programmes broadcast by the BBC and ITV.
The harmonic drawbars - effectively a complex switch - mentioned in the first advert below were designed by Derek Underdown and Geoff Harris in 1957, the design registered and the electro-mechanical assembly patented (granted in 1960). See this page. Geoff Harris went on to head JMI's Thomas Organ division (1964-1967).
Pages on 1954-1957 can be found here. Other years will follow soon. A sequence of pages on guitar amplifiers, beginning with 1957, starts here.
Entertainment Models D1, D2 and H, 1958
"Melody Maker" magazine, 28th January, 1958. "Model D1" and "Model D2".
"Melody Maker" magazine, 14th June, 1958. The new "Model H".
"Musical Opinion" magazine, August 1958. The range: Models A, C, DS, E, G and H. The DS entertainment organ was new at this point.
1959
A Jennings entertainment organ brochure from 1959 - the Model DS was new in late 1958. The harmonic drawbar was a Jennings Organ Company innovation devised by Derek Underdown and Geoff Harris. The patent was granted in 1960.
Note the size of the supplementary tone cabinets - 4 1/2 feet tall. But these were considerably smaller than the earlier type of cabinet, which was much the same size as a Model D organ.
